It seems like just yesterday we brought this lil’ guy home from the hospital, but the calendar is telling us he is two-weeks old today. Happy b-day Brody!

We have had an exciting week with lots of great visitors and plenty of doctor appointments for both Brody and mommy. We also had to say goodbye to Gramma Huth who was with us his first week and a half, but we know she will be back soon. Thanks Mom – for EVERYTHING!

Aunt Missey and soon-to-be Uncle Josh came by this weekend.

Aunt Laura:

Aunt Aimee:

Aunt Barb:

Aunt Ellen:

Kelli also stopped by again:

bringing twin sister and good friend Jennifer & 2-month old son Cameron.

We had even more visitors this past week, more photos are available in the photo gallery.

Growing and Growing and…

As you know, Brody came into this world a lil’ guy weighing in at only 6 pounds, 4 ounces. Then to add to this, babies lose even more weight the first week (up to 10%). Brody left the hospital weighing 6 pounds, 1 ounce and two days later at his first doctor’s appointment he was 5 pounds, 15 ounces.

So it was our goal this week to pack the pounds on Brody! And guess what, he is a milk-loving monster.

On average after the first week, babies gain an ounce a day….Brody doesn’t like to be average:

Three days after his first appt, he gained 7 ounces weighing in at 6 pounds, 6 ounces = 2.3 ounces/day
Two days later, he gained 3 more ounces (6 pounds, 9 ounces) = 1.5 ounces/day
Four days later, he gained a whopping 8 ounces (7 pounds, 1 ounce) = 2 ounces/day

So the doctor’s office thinks Brody is hitting his growth spurt early, but very happy that he is doing so well. We just think he is the next Michael Phelps already in training for the 2028 Olympics. (Can you tell this is all we have been watching on TV since we are home-bound most of the day :).

Brody’s Firsts this Week

Other new things is Brody is making the funniest faces. He is starting to notice things with his eyes and his little expressions make you laugh. He does smile now, and it is adorable. We have yet to capture his cute ones on camera but we will get there.

Brody’s umbilical cord also fell off this week so he got his first real bath!

Note: No Dawn dishwashing soap was used for Brody’s bath, only baby shampoo. This was in our kitchen and didn’t think to move it for the video.

We updated the photo gallery with his 2nd week photos, so make sure to check it out. You can get there by clicking here, or a link is always over on the right hand side.

Thanks for stopping by. Comments are always welcome.
